Intense spirituality
Getting closer – pushed away
Clinging on
Whispered words
Faith in the Almighty
Unsettled passion
Maybe a moment to contemplate
A desire left unsaid
Hidden within
Known to only He
Closer than
My jugular vein

Camouflage, in disguise
Shrouded by the cloak of dusk
Black-ness
Blotches in the heart
Bound by darkness
Stillness of the night sky
Unspoken words drifting,
Hushed thoughts
Evaporating in silence
Unsettled emotions
Outburst
Continuous whisperings
Reaching inner flesh
Delusional thinking
Temporary peace
Set to vacate
Empty

Broken Rhythm

I was inspired immensely by sister nomadicnafs poem named "wild flower" at http://nomadicnafs.blogspot.com/2007/04/wild-flower.html, having read her beautiful words I wrote the following:

Serenity was at its peak,
a warm heart she had indeed,
at rest, finally it appeared.
to the rhythm of her soul
Danced she.
A gentle breeze shook her roots
Hold on be firm, she continued to repeat.
The winds howled, she fought and fought.
To her surprise she could not hold.
The barren land was her abode
yet she stood, upright lifeless.
Her interrupted dance
She forgot,
broken rhythm
pleaded she, ‘I seek’,
eyes wondered in search, of the bee
that once caught her eye to begin.
To mend her rhythm,
To allow her dance,
To re-tame her broken leaf.
Silent touch
asleep she was
she caught a glimpse
in awe she was.
Her rhythm evoked
Yet not complete.
Remained awake
awaiting that touch
to recollect her broken beat
Amend her rhythm
Continue to dance.

Who says tears are a sign of weakness,
I shed tears to clean my heart
Clear my vision,
Let my inner soul speak.
My weeping may overwhelm you,
My pain may not reach you.
I may drown in your love
Maybe called an ‘emotional’ person
Why is that so wrong.
I fear none but he
Realization hits me
I cry for the wrongs I’ve done.
My heart speaks no lie
for my tears reveal the truth,
As they flow,
Crystal clear,
Leading to an endless path,
Disappeared? Or Accepted?
Set right or maybe lost.
My lord is indeed my witness.

Restless Soul

Oh world you have beguiled me,
Seized my soul and enticed me,
Providing me with luxuries,
Dismissing my worldly worries.
Yet my soul is constantly restless.
My journey of life almost aimless.
Oh soul, what is it that you yearn,
More desires that you need to earn.
Sucked in the ocean of perplexity,
Drowning in the depths of complexity,
Seeking for an answer and a remedy,
Nothing around seems to be plenty,
Straining to achieve inner ease,
Attempting to reach and appease.
Oh world have you not a solution,
Provide my soul with a resolution.
Your enjoyments leave my heart empty,
Happiness can no longer be seen clearly.
Oh soul, why are you constantly crying,
This alluring world has left you sighing,
Now you realize the world’s been unfaithful,
Repenting, turning to Allah, being hopeful,
Doors of your heart are wide open,
Your tears beginning to form an ocean,
Allah knows what his servants want
Allow your soul not to be daunt,
Allah likes to hear his servants ask
And he makes easy your difficult task.
Oh world my soul does not require you,
Now my soul you have been answered too…
“Surely by Allah's remembrance are the hearts set at rest.” (13:28)

You alone, my healer
In this ocean of emotions
You alone, my witness
In this lonesome path
You alone, my guider
In this helpless situation
You alone, my strength
In the silence of the night
You alone, my hearer
In the times of deceit
You alone, my supporter
In the heart lie tears
You alone, my knower
In the times of ignorance
You alone, my teacher
In the far light of hope
You alone, only you Allah…
